Ineke VAN SCHOOR, Julie VAN GELDER and Kaat DUMAREY won Belgium's first gold at the Baku 2015 European Games by more than a point in the women's group all-around final at the National Gymnastics Arena on Friday.
"Gold in the all-around is the most prestigious medal. It makes you a real Baku 2015 champion," VAN SCHOOR said.
"It means you're good at everything, all three routines," VAN GELDER said.
After performing their first two exercises on Wednesday, the Belgian trio had a 0.912 lead over Russia before they performed their final routine in the final on Friday.
VAN SCHOOR, VAN GELDER and DUMAREY held on to the lead after performing a solid combined exercise and finished with a total 86.480 points over three exercises.
"Although we were leading by almost one point, we were pretty nervous. We were more careful during our routine," VAN GELDER said.
Russian gymnasts Valeriia BELKINA, Yulia NIKITINA and Zhanna PARKHOMETC won the silver medal with 85.430 points.
"It was hard to compete with Belgium," PARKHOMETC said. "To beat them the next time, we really have to work on the artistic part of our exercises."

- Marina CHERNOVA (RUS) and Georgy PATARAYA (RUS) take gold in all-around
- Russian pair led from start to finish
- Silver "feels like gold" for VASTAVEL (BEL) and CASSAMAJOR (BEL)
Leading from start to finish, acrobatic gymnasts Marina CHERNOVA (RUS) and Georgy PATARAYA (RUS) secured gold in the mixed pairs all-around final at the National Gymnastics Arena on Friday.
The Russians performed three difficult exercises to claim the gold medal with a total of 89.310, over three points clear of silver medallists Belgium.
Despite the easy win, CHERNOVA thinks she and her partner could have performed even better. "There is no limit for an ideal performance," she said.
"This gold medal is not the end. We will compete at many more competitions in the future. We will always try to win," PATARAYA said.
Yana VASTAVEL (BEL) and Solano CASSAMAJOR's (BEL) silver medal tally was 86.180 points.
"It really feels like a gold medal," CASSAMAJOR said.
The Belgian team had to overcome injury to perform at the Baku 2015 European Games.
"I tore the ligaments in my right elbow in April, so we really had a difficult period before competing here," VASTAVEL said.
"Even without the injury it would have been impossible to beat the Russians. They are amazingly strong," CASSAMAJOR said.
Hannah BAUGHN (GBR) and Ryan BARTLETT (GBR) took bronze with 85.160 points.
