FIG President visits young gymnasts in Indonesia09/02/2017
While Jakarta prepares to host the 18th Asian Games next year, FIG President Morinari Watanabe visited young gymnasts at the Indonesian capital’s main club last weekend.
The Gavrila Gymnastics club, founded in 2001, now counts 800 athletes and 18 coaches, among them Rifda Irfanaluthfi, who competed at the 2015 World Championships in Glasgow (GBR) and won a silver medal on Floor at the 2015 South East Asian Games.
The FIG President sat down with dozens of children who train at the club and talked about their aspirations.
Jakarta will be the continental sport hot spot in 2018 as the city will host for the second time the Asian Games, August 18 - September 2.
