8th FIG Acrobatic Gymnastics World Age Group Competitions
Levallois (FRA), July 2 – 5, 2014
Some 700 Acrobatic gymnasts arrived in Paris-Levallois (FRA) last weekend and had the opportunity to get accustomed to the Marcel-Cerdan Sports Palace - venue for the 8th FIG World Age Group Competitions (WAGC) - during podium training sessions on Monday and Tuesday. The event that features competitions for three Age Groups (11-16; 12-18; 13-19 years) got underway this morning and will continue until Saturday.
Thirty-three countries and all continents are represented at the eighth edition of this international tournament for junior acrobats, which includes competitions in the categories Women’s, Men’s and Mixed Pairs as well as Women’s Groups and Men’s Groups. With a total of 51 registered gymnasts Russia sent the largest delegation to Paris-Levallois, closely followed by Great Britain with 50 gymnasts, while Armenia, Azerbaijan, Czech Republic, Moldova and Mexico will be represented by a single unit. Host France lines-up eight units totalling 21 gymnasts.
The event that helps junior gymnasts gain experience on the international stage and prepares them for their careers as seniors precedes the World Championships, which will be held at the same venue next week, July 10 – 12, 2014.
