Gymnastic Licence

LAUSANNE (SUI) FIG Office, July 1, 2009: Yesterday June 30th at the stroke of midnight the deadline sounded for the submission of no-cost FIG licence forms. In force since January 1, 2009, the licence has become an open sesame for participation in the Federation’s official competitions.

The 127 national affiliated federations were called on to submit their forms by June 30th for a cost-free licence. At the stroke of midnight, more than half had already returned their forms. FIG administrative services were swamped but managed to keep afloat with some 5,000 forms, identification photos and passport copies pouring in! Every last one will need to be checked over and validated before a coveted FIG licence can be sent out by mail.

Gymnasts are required to have a licence to participate in the Artistic Worlds in London (GBR) in October this year. Some 10,000 requests will be reviewed in the process of registering gymnasts in the FIG’s 6 competitive disciplines.
