Gymnastics on YouTube
LAUSANNE (SUI), FIG Office, 23 November 2010: The FIG Official Channel on YouTube has now reached and surpassed the one million visitor mark. This milestone confirms the excellent audience figures achieved for the various World Championships in the FIG's Olympic disciplines during autumn 2010.
The Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Rotterdam (NED), the Rhythmic Gymnastics in Moscow (RUS) and the Trampoline Gymnastics in Metz (FRA) all saw significant progress, both in terms of the number of media organisations registering on the sites, and the number of territories covered by TV networks agreeing exclusive rights with the FIG
The FIG website has also been attracting record numbers of visitors. During the recent Trampoline World Age Group Competitions in Metz, which saw the participation of around a thousand young gymnasts representing 34 federations, website hit rates exploded, surpassing the highest figures recorded during the senior trampoline and rhythmic competitions. Only the senior Artistic Gymnastics World Championships attracted more visitors to the website!
These impressive figures represent a genuine success, but there are further challenges ahead for the world's oldest international sports federation, which in 2011 – the year of its 130th anniversary – will be gearing up for more major media interest when the Olympic qualifiers get under way.
