2,011 participants and 21 countries already signed!

Cape Town (RSA) / Lausanne (SUI) / FIG Office, August 3, 2012:  With 11 months left to the start of the event, over 2,100 participants from 21 countries have already enrolled on the official 2013 World Gym for Life Challenge Registration System. A success!

These countries are: Albania – Australia - Austria – Belgium – Canada – Denmark – Estonia – Finland – Germany – Great Britain – Greece – Italy – Norway – Qatar – Russia – Serbia - Slovakia – South Africa - Sweden and Switzerland.

The FIG Gymnastics for All Committee (GFA) and event organisers are excited about the high numbers of registration. The record of 2,000 participants who signed up for the premiere edition in Dornbirn (AUT) in 2009 is already beaten!

The event is scheduled for July 10 – 14, 2013 in Cape Town and is the first time that an official Gymnastics for All event will unfold in the southern hemisphere. “I’m delighted with the numbers. They bear witness to our discipline’s universality. I’m certain that countries from Asia will join the list, and then every continental union will be represented!” rejoices GFA Committee President, Ms Margaret Sikkens-Ahlquist (SWE).
This World Challenge is an international meet between gymnastics clubs, overseen by a college of FIG-designated experts.

The best gymnasts from a qualifying event will battle it out in a final round for the Bruno Grandi Trophy, a title currently held by the Piruett Elite Gym Club of Tallin (EST- picture).
