Chinese Gymnasts at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney (AUS)

Lausanne (SUI), October 7, 2009: The FIG Disciplinary Commission continues to pursue its investigation into the case of Chinese gymnasts Dong Fangxiao and Yang Yun and their participation in the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney.

Commission President Rached Gharbi of Tunisia and Members Margarida Dias Ferreira (POR) and Marc Schoenmaekers (BEL) recently reported their satisfaction with the process so far, emphasising their commitment to thoroughness and attention to detail. Their final report will be submitted to the FIG Executive Board in February 2010 at its statutory meeting.

Based on a notice of right, the FIG is the competent body to carry out the investigation, to establish whether or not an age limitation has been violated and decide whether sanctions are to be imposed.
