Rhythmic Gymnastics Grand Prix

LAUSANNE (SUI), FIG Office, February 18, 2010: The 2010 Rhythmic Gymnastics Grand Prix circuit will kick off this weekend from February 20 – 21 in Moscow (RUS). 35 of the world’s best rhythmic gymnasts from 28 different countries, amongst them 2009 title holder on all apparatus Evgenia Kanaeva (RUS), are expected to participate.
Aliya Garaeva (AZE), Melitina Staniouta (BLR), Irina Risenzon (ISR), Evgenia Kanaeva (RUS), Daria Kondakova (RUS) count among the favourites at the Grand Prix season opening.
Apart from the Grand Prix, a juniors’ competition in Individuals and Groups, an “Extra Seniors” All-around tournament and the Gazprom Champions Cup for senior groups will be held in Moscow starting on Friday.
The next stopover on the 2010 Grand Prix circuit will be in Kiev (UKR) on March 18 – 20, followed by Thiais (FRA) on March 25 – 29. The Gity Cup in Brno (CZE), originally scheduled for March 4 – 7, has been postponed until October 14 – 18.
