FIG Academy Working Group for Aerobic Gymnastics
LAUSANNE (SUI), FIG Office, February 17, 2010: The Academy Working Group for Aerobic Gymnastics met for the first time in almost two years. Some modifications to the Code of Points and the increase in gymnastics related content in competitions required a review of the academy curriculum and resources including the technical manuals. The meeting was held in the FIG Headquarters in Lausanne (SUI) and provided some of the working group members the first opportunity to visit the FIG offices.
The purpose of the meeting was to review all documents, resources and lectures for the three Academy levels and to modify or update them as required. The Working Group also reviewed the requirements of the Age Group Competition rules, analysed the reports of academies held to date and in view of improving the delivery of the seven academies for Aerobic Gymnastics planned for 2010.
Present at the meeting were FIG Vice President Slava Corn, John Atkinson (former President of the FIG Aerobic Gymnastics TC), Maria Fumea (member of FIG Aerobic Gymnastics TC), Valerie Grandjean, Ron Weese, Hardy Fink (Director of FIG Education & Academy Programmes) and Olivia Bille Peña (Manager of FIG Education Programmes). Only Holly Abraham of the working group was unable to attend.
Once the business items were finished, the rest of the meeting was used as a working meeting to modify the documents, resources and technical manuals for use at academies later this year and beyond.
