19th Trampoline World Age Groups Competitions

FOUR DAYS OF COMPETITION IN A QUEST FOR THE GRAIL

Finals day 3 - November 20, 2009

Japan had yet to secure a spot at the top of an Age Group podium this time around. But they’ve finally done it! On the 3rd day of competitions, the empire of the rising sun gave a convincing performance in the 13 - 14 category. Girls and boys both took the lead that bedecked them with Gold in this event.

Great Britain also took its first Gold in Tumbling 17 - 18 Girls, and with style, thank you very much! Samantha Rockett soared to the top with a 1.100 point lead.

Also topping the podium, Jacob Pedersen and Mette Kristensen for Denmark in Tumbling 17 - 18 Boys and Girls. But host Russia was undefeated in Double-mini 11 - 12 Boys; three gymnasts represented the country on all three steps of the podium. Beat that!

The last final of the day saw the Ukraine overthrowing the Individual Trampoline 15 - 16 Boys event with a remarkable performance by Oleksandr Satin. In Girls, Savannah Vinsant took home a shiny Gold for the United States.

Finals day 4 - November 21, 2009

Brazil wrapped up this last day of competition with two medals taken to the wild beat of the Samba; the country's Synchro 15 - 16 Girls Pair (Clara Beatriz Porreca / Daienne Lima) garnered the Gold with panache before Rodrigo Pacheco took Silver in the Individual Trampoline 17 - 18 Boys category.

A spectacular double victory for the United States in Double-mini 13 - 14 Girls (Kiara Nowlin / Shaylee Dunavin). Belarus capitalized on this event, placing first in Individual Trampoline 17 - 18 Girls with Volha Kapustsina. In Tumbling 11 - 12 Girls, Emily Marsden Payne conquered Gold for Great Britain, cheered on by a huge fan club present in the city of Catherine the Great.

Day after day has looked the same for Russia, who once again took a triple victory in its signature discipline, Double-mini. In 13 - 14 Boys, Russia took possession of every step on the podium, concluding a phenomenal, high-level competition here in St Petersburg. /cev/az
