Aerobic Gymnastics

FAST FACTS !

  • FIG has 7 seven disciplines: Gymnastics for All – Men’s and Women’s Artistic Gymnastics – Rhythmic Gymnastics – Trampoline Gymnastics – Aerobic Gymnastics and Acrobatic Gymnastics;
  • Aerobic Gymnastics has 5 categories: Men’s and Women’s Individuals – Mixed Pairs – Trios and Groups;
  • The first “Sports Aerobic Commission” was created in 1994 and named today Aerobic Gymnastics Technical Committee;
  • The first AER Gym Worlds took place in 1995 at Stade de Coubertin Hall in Paris (FRA);
  • A competition may not start earlier than 10:00 and finish later than 23:00;
  • The maximum number (individuals, pairs, trios, groups) for the qualifying rounds and finals is 2 per category and nation;
  • Should a competitor fail to appear on stage within 20 seconds after being called, a deduction of 0.5 will be apply. Within 60 seconds, the start will be deemed as a Walk Over. The competitor loses the right to participate in the category. Extraordinary circumstances are detailed in the Technical Regulations.
  • A gymnast must wear his / her national identification or emblem;
  • One or more pieces of music may be mixed. Original music and sound effect are allowed;
  • The most honoured gymnast (Gold Medallist) at FIG World Championships is Jonatan Canada (ESP);
  • For the official senior competitions of the FIG, the participants must, in the year of the  competition, have 18 years;
  • Dressing and undressing during competitions and warm-up periods in the designated competition area is judged as an unsportsmanlike gesture and may result in disqualification of the competitor.
  • Theatrical, musical and circus dress (belt, corset, dinner-jacket, tie, etc…) is not allowed. Clear representations on the leotard (flowers, animals, stars, guitars, etc...) are not allowed.
  • Any kind of rolls are allowed and are not considered as prohibited moves;
  • The theoretical exam questionnaire contents 430 questions;
  • Aerobic Gymnastics will be included as a demonstration sport in the next Universiades in Shenzen (CHN) 2011.
