Introduction

EDUCATION is a mainstay of FIG philosophy and activity. It is a concept that permeates every aspect of gymnastics, one which underpins the preparation of gymnasts, coaches and judges alike. To educate is to grow, to enhance. EDUCATION is the first step toward health, as well as physical and psychological well-being; it is the foundation for sport justice.
There are two essential areas of EDUCATION within the FIG:

• The FIG ACADEMIES, geared toward educating coaches;
• IOC OLYMPIC SOLIDARIY, offering educational courses that target underprivileged gymnasts.

Educate, instruct, cultivate! Article 2.1 of the FIG Statutes emphasise the Federation’s aim “to co-ordinate efforts for safe and healthy physical and moral development in gymnastics and the practice of all sports activities relating to it.”
