Gym for Life Challenge
A new competition event for gymnastic groups of all ages and genders !

The FIG Gymnastics for All committee is presenting a new World event, Gym for Life-Challenge, which will take place in July 2009.
The event will include a Contest for gymnastics groups, workshops and a Gym for Life Gala show. With the World Gymnaestrada continuing to grow in participation numbers the FIG has moved to provide members, particularly those involved in group performances, another World event in the years between the Gymnaestrada. The Gym for Life Challenge will again provide an opportunity to unite gymnasts from across the world as they share, learn and make new friends while experiencing and enjoying the world of gymnastics.
In contrast to the World Gymnaestrada the Gym for Life Challenge will be structured around a Group Performance contest that will still reflect all of the Gymnastics for All values and principles of Fun, Fitness, Friendship and quality entertainment.
The group performance contest is for groups working within any field of gymnastics. There will be a range of age group divisions along with large and small group categories. The Gym for Life Challenge is for ALL ages, abilities and we look forward to welcoming many teams from all corners of the world.
Performances will be performed indoors on an area of approx. 400m², are to be no longer than 5 minutes and can be accompanied by music. Group performances will be evaluated on entertainment value, overall quality, innovation, originality, variety, technique (quality & skill safety).
The evaluation will be carried out by a panel of experts who will have experience across a range of performance, artistry, technical and choreography fields. All competing groups will be awarded Gold, Silver or Bronze ranking from the Expert panel.
A key objective of the Gym for Life Challenge will also be ongoing education of our gymnastic coaches and gymnasts and therefore a range of workshops will be offered on the topics of Dance, Fitness and Group performances with and without the use of apparatus. The Gym for Life Challenge will conclude with a Gala show with participation of the best groups.
